Also, save each newly altered car under a new filename or you'll be
screwed faster than Bill Clinton.
Tip: When it comes to controlling high-end racing sims, joysticks

Tip: Of all the data the game supplies, perhaps the most critical is
the tire temperatures. What you want your setup to do is keep them
even across the width of each tire after a bunch of hot laps. Doing
so means more rubber is contacting the ground, and your tires, in all
likelihood, will last longer and be more effective. Of course, a lot
of factors go into even tire temps, so don't be disappointed if it
takes you some time, perhaps several hours or more, to get it right.
Tip: On the track, a fast frame rate is absolutely fundamental for
detecting minor fluctuations early enough to correct them. Turn off
nonessential graphics options or use the game as a good excuse to
upgrade your computer or video card.
Tip: Starting a race with no pace lap means you'll get a good chance
at picking up lots of early positions.

On Sears Point Raceway, go for seven turns (or eight if you count the
little tiny dip in the track as the fourth turn). Stop after the area
of sand at the end of the seventh turn. You will be able to get into
the space between the tire barrier and the fence there. Drive along
that place for a short while until the fence ends. You should now be
able to drive around on the dirt outside of the racetrack with no
boundaries (except the edge of the ground).
Different pit stall:

Go to the "Opponent Manager" screen and create a new car. The first
name should be "Jason", and the last name should be "Leffler". The car
number should be "11", and the sponsors should be "Fedex" and "Netzero

team, make your car a Chevrolet. During the race or practice, make a
pit stop. Notice that either Bobby Labonte or Tony Stewart is getting
serviced in your pit stall. They will act as if they notice you and

Ignore this and go as fast as you set it to.

Use the following trick to drive in the views from the replay, such as
TV1 or TV2 while racing. Immediately when you get to the screen where
you can select what session you want to do, go to the replay screen in
the top corner and select the camera view you want to drive in. Then,

Be certain beforehand that your setup can handle all aspects of a given
track's corners, and adjust your approach to ensure that a fast entry doesn't
result in a slow exit.
* As always, a fast frame rate is absolutely essential to properly monitor your
car's position and attitude. If the frame rate isn't totally smooth, especially
in the midst of traffic, go to the graphics options area and prepare to sacrifice
pretty pictures for fast frame transitions.
* NASCAR 3 is one of the very few racing titles in which a force-feedback wheel
is actually a driving aid, not just a frivolous perk. If you have the bucks,
take the plunge-just check the reviews of the wheel first and make sure you're
getting a good one.
* If you're tinkering with your car, make sure your new setup can survive the
grind of the race distance you choose. There were many times when I'd settled
on a given setup that flew for the first few dozen laps, only to die later as
rubber burned off the right front tire. Don't make the same mistake.
* If you can handle the pitfalls of short, low-banked circuits, chances are you
can handle higher-banked and longer tracks where the driving isn't quite so
frightening. I personally feel that Memphis, a three-quarter-mile facility
with 11-degree banking, is a great baptism by fire.
* You would do well to adopt the "Five P" approach: Preparation, patience,
perseverance, pacing, and last but surely not least, practice.
No Restricter Plates At Talladega:

menu every time you race at a different track?
Here's what to do:
First, set the opps within the game to 100%
say were racing at Atlanta. Go to the Atlanta Track
directory(/nascar3/tracks/atlanta)Create copies of ATLANTA.TXT
(or whatever the track name is) and RECORDS.TXT in the same directory.
open the Atlanta.TXT Scroll down the arcane Capital letter words like
TNAME, SPEEDW, LENGT. There are only a couple linesw you can change
without inviting Armaggedon. LAPS:how many laps are in a full length
race
QUAL: How many qualifying laps there are. DONT CHANGE THE FIRST NUMBER.
THERE SHOULD BE TWO. the first number is only a place-holder.
BLAP: The average qualifying time for the computer cars, x 1000(so if the
times are 23.456 secoonds, they would show up as 23456)Find your
average qual time and enter this in to be able to qualify near the
middle of the pack.
RELS: Same as opposition strength(if you had both RELS and OPPS at 97%,
the cars would travel at 97% of 97%, or 94% at that track).
Create your own seasons:

You can also create your own seasons by editing the ones provided by the
game. These will be in the main folder called "nascar3". Look for a file
called "nascar.cal". Open it in a text editor. You will see five numbers
for each track, for example: 1 3 7 0 0. The first number is the race number.
In the example, this would be the first race of the season. The second number
is the month of the race. The third number is the day of the race. The
meaning of the fourth number is unknown. The fifth number is a "0" for a
day race or "1" for a night race. After the number will be the name of the
track in all capital letters. Then, the event name appears twice, followed
by how many laps you will race in it. Whatever the laps is defined here
overrides what is in the .txt file for any track. Then there will be the
two image files for used for track information when starting a race.

"trackname.txt". Open it with a text editor. Look for the line that reads "CARS".
Change both numbers to 44. This will give you 43 cars, which is the maximum for
that track. You can now have 43 cars at every track. Also, if their are two pits

will see a single double digit number. Change these on both lines to 22. This
will even out the pits for the track. If not, all the extra cars will pit on
the back pit. This makes your pit nice to pit in, but can cause cars on the
back pit to jam up. If a jam happens, the race will not end.

see your acceleration increase. This will allow you to achieve your top
speed faster, and you can accelerate out of the corners faster.
It is also a good idea to pit at the halfway mark on a 5% race, as most cars
will take the next lap to pit and you will not run into pit road traffic.
Remember to draft, and you can finish with a good position, and perhaps

helps the centers, forwards or guards. This may not work for coaches who coach

Then, switch every player on your team to that position. For example, switch
all your players to centers first then buy the big man coach who will raise
your players inside scoring by four. Then, go back and edit your players again
to their correct position except for the centers. Make them a power forward or
something else. Then, re-order your line-up to your liking and simulate one game
(since you bought a one game coach). Go back and edit your centers to their correct
positions. Look at the ratings, and your players should all have had their inside
scoring increased by four. If you have at least 10,000 dynasty points, you can buy
a team plane or new team locker room which raises your FG shooting by four each home
road or home game. To take advantage of this, buy a plane or locker room, start a
game, and look at the rating to see if it went up then quit the game. If you go
player stats and look at the ratings, you should notice your players FG shooting
is up by four.

the Charlotte Bobcats in an exhibition game, under the rookie difficulty

Use the "Double team" play on defense to steal the ball and create easy
fast break dunks or have your maxed out PG back down the opposing teams
PG for easy buckets in the paint. Make a minimum of twenty consecutive
baskets and end the game without missing a shot. You will then receive

Easy dynasty mode:

Go to the "Edit Players" option under "Team Management" and max out all
the stats of the players on the team that you want to use in dynasty mode.
Save the roster so that you can use it in your dynasty. Go to dynasty mode
and it will load your roster. Your team will have maxed out stats.

Before you start your dynasty mode, put all of the All-Star caliber players
in one team. Then, simulate through the entire season in dynasty mode to
earn points for unlocking items.
Increasing player rating in dynasty mode:

This trick requires at least 300 dynasty points to buy a one game coach that
helps the centers, forwards or guards. This may not work for coaches who coach
an entire team.
Then, switch every player on your team to that position. For example, switch
all your players to centers first then buy the big man coach who will raise
your players inside scoring by four. Then, go back and edit your players again
to their correct position except for the centers. Make them a power forward or
something else. Then, re-order your line-up to your liking and simulate one game
(since you bought a one game coach). Go back and edit your centers to their correct
positions. Look at the ratings, and your players should all have had their inside
scoring increased by four. If you have at least 10,000 dynasty points, you can buy
a team plane or new team locker room which raises your FG shooting by four each home
road or home game. To take advantage of this, buy a plane or locker room, start a
game, and look at the rating to see if it went up then quit the game. If you go
player stats and look at the ratings, you should notice your players FG shooting
is up by four.
Getting great players for low salaries:

When you are in "Sign Free Agents" in the off-season of your franchise and you
see a very good person at a very high price ($300,000), just skip the free agent
signing and get to the new season. When you are done with training camp go to
"Sign Free Agents". If the player that you want is still there, he will usually

Sometimes when the ball bounces to the top of backboard and goes out of bounds,
the team will receive 2 points.
Injured and a foul shot:

When a player drives to the basket, then gets fouled and injured at the same time, he
will be replaced by another player to shoot hisfreethrows. The player is allowed to
return. In a real NBA game, when another player shoots your freethrows you are not
permitted to re-enter the game.
Substitution error:

When a player is about to shoot freethrows, the CPU will substitute players after the
last freethrow and not in-between freethrows.
NBA headbands:

You can only give NBA headbands to createdplayers.

Players are usually seen having a "skating" effect on the court while running or

Better three point shooting:

For some players, three point shooting at the beginning of a game is not good. Wait until
the second or third quarter then start shooting three pointers. You might notice an
increase in three point shooting on players that are good at that type of hot.
Better dunking:

After dunking many times during a game, you will start to miss dunks more often. Keep
trying to dunk some more, and once you miss a couple of dunks in a row, start shooting
jump shots from up close to the basket.
Easy dynasty mode:

Go to the settings menu. Then choose "Gameplay" and change the fouls to "0". Then, go
to "User" and make everything "100" except "Substitution". Go to "CPU" and set everything
to "0". Then, go to "Rules" and make "Foul Outs" "0" and no fouls.
